With the disaster in Haiti and the suffering of the people there prominent in the minds of Americans, many feel a need to help in some small way.

In Carson City, there will be an opportunity for kids of all ages to write letters of love and kindness which will be sent to the children of Haiti, said Carole Thompson of Partnership Carson City.

The organization, together with Gary Jesch, Chops & Assoc. Live Animation of Carson City, lets parents go to YouTube to meet Wally, The Talking Wall, and learn more about how they can send "Hearts to Haiti."

Go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROXApwp8PyI to see what Wally has to say.

"Wally shares his message and talks to the children of Carson City in our little cartoon message, talking about the difficult situation for the children in Haiti on YouTube," Thompson said.

From the video, for those who want to send a letter of love to a Haitian child, head on over to www.partnershipcarsoncity.org and click on the e-mail link to Carole Thompson. Compose your letter, sign it and hit send.

"I wanted to incorporate a Hearts to Haiti theme with Partnership Carson City Kids Talking Wall that simply required letters or words of encouragement from the children in Carson City to the children of Haiti, communicating and sharing care and concern, as an act of kindness from one human being to another," Thompson said.

A letter-writing session also has been scheduled from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday in the Carson Mall for those who want to bring their children in to be part of the project.

"Hard copies of the letters from the children in Carson City will be delivered as our Habitat for Humanity team goes into Haiti," Thompson said.
