A winter storm rolled through the Carson City region Monday afternoon, dumping about 3 inches of snow in some areas with as much as six inches expected to fall overnight, said Mark Deutschendorf, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

In Lake Tahoe, about a foot of snow is expected by Tuesday morning at lake level with more on the way by Thursday.

The next major storm is expected to make it to the region my mid-Wednesday, with a weaker system passing through tomorrow.

"Tomorrow's is not expected to be as heavy as today's, but the one for Wednesday is looking to be as strong," Deutschendorf said.
