More snow expected tonight in Carson

While the Sierra received the brunt of the winter storm passing through the region today, Carson City should expect about one to two inches of snow tonight, said Brian Brong, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

A storm passing over the Sacramento area this afternoon will make it to the Carson City area sometime tonight, potentially bringing thunder and gusts of wind with it, he said.

"What we're expecting for this evening is shorter bursts of heavier snow," Brong said.

More snow showers are expected Thursday afternoon, tapering off after midnight and picking up again Friday.

The snow storm on Wednesday caused traffic delays along I-80 in the Sierra. Brong said the storm had dumped about a foot of snow by 4 p.m. today amid blizzard-like conditions.

"Saturday and Sunday will probably just be cloudy days," Brong said. "It looks like there could be another system moving in sometime early next week."
