NAMPA, Idaho - Former Carson High star Christy Works won the 800m run with a time of 2:19.25 and Gina Deckard won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.72 as the University of Nevada track and field team took two out of three duals at the Boise State Duals Saturday in Nampa, Idaho.
Nevada beat Boise State and Utah Valley while it fell to Idaho State.
Cristina Hibbert posted two second-place finishes on the day. She ran the 10th fastest time in school history in the 200m dash with a time of 25.41 to finish second in the event. She also finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 58.27. Both times are personal bests for Hibbert.
"The girl's really competed well with the wins against Boise State and Idaho State," head coach Shantel Twiggs said. "Our goal was to come home with three wins and we feel a little short but two out of three was outstanding. We were aggressive from the first event through the last. I can see in the athlete's eyes how good they want to be and to see the fruit of their labor is great."
Olivia Morgan posted a top-10 finish in the 400m dash clocking a 59.91. Jackae Bridges and Gina Deckard each finished in the top-10 of the 200m dash as Bridges took sixth and recorded a PR (25.64) while Gina Deckard finished seventh with a PR time of 25.69.
In the high jump La Tijera Avery and Cortney Beasley each set personal bests. Avery and Beasley tied for second with a jump of 1.67m (5-05.75). Each mark was a PR for Avery and Beasley.
Two sprinters finished in the top-10 in the 60m dash with Gina Deckard finishing fourth with a PR time of 7.97 while Regal Minyard took ninth with a time of 8.21.
Nevada will compete at the United Heritage Invitational on February 5- 6 in Boise, Idaho.
