CARSON CITY - Taxable sales in Nevada fell nearly 10.9 percent in November over the same month last year, marking the 13th straight month of double-digit declines.
But the statewide decline is the smallest reported over the past year.
Tuesday's report from the Department of Taxation shows Nevada merchants sold about $3 billion in goods in November on which the state collected sales and use taxes of $235 million, a decline of 6.6 percent compared with November 2008.
Sales were down 10.7 percent in Clark County, which includes Las Vegas; and 13 percent in Washoe County, which includes Reno.
Thirteen of Nevada's 17 counties reported declines, the exceptions being Humboldt, Lincoln, Mineral and Nye counties.
