The Carson City Board of Supervisors is scheduled Thursday to move forward with changes to an ordinance for improving the telephone system used for reporting emergencies.
During the last legislative session, state law changed governing the surcharge fees that local governments can impose for improving those systems.
Some of the proposed changes include: requiring the board of supervisors to review the emergency telephone master plan annually; requiring an advisory committee to create a plan to carry out the goals of the master plan; allowing supervisors to increase the fund balance from $500,000 to
$1 million; and establishing a process for customers to follow who wish to dispute the fee.
Also scheduled for possible action or to be heard Thursday are:
• A report on the Nevada Division of Forestry's wildland fire management activities in Carson City;
• Approval of the Open Space Division Work Program;
• An ordinance authorizing the issuance of $7.9 million in motor vehicle fuel tax bonds for street and highway construction;
• A resolution concerning issuing bonds for financing sewer projects;
• A resolution concerning issuing bonds for financing water projects;
• Accepting the second amendment to the agreement between the city and the Sheriff's Supervisory Association to recognize the title of Captain.
