Carson wrestling win streak snapped at Auburn tourney

The Carson High wrestling team went into the Placer dual meet in Auburn with a streak of 23 dual wins on the line and when they walked out of the meet Saturday, it was time to start a new one.

The Senators extended the streak to 25 by winning their first two duals, but fell in two of their next three to finish sixth.

Carson dominated Clayton Valley (48-19) and Bear Valley (65-16) in the first two, but was edged by Red Bluff 38-32. McCarthy said Red Bluff was 16-1 on the season coming into the tournament. Carson then got past Placer 47-25 before losing to Chico 34-33.

The Senators had four wrestlers go undefeated: Ricky Ugarte (119 pounds), Nick Schlager (135), Junior Valladares (171) and Justin Barlow (heavyweight).

Three other Senators went 4-1: Pat Craugh (103), Cole McCarthy (112), Nicklaus Garcia (145).

Carson wins two title at mcqueen

Two Carson High JV wrestlers came home with titles from the McQueen JV Tournament on Saturday.

Tristian Wadsworth, a 103-pounder, and Jordan Woodward, heavyweight, were the Carson winners.

Nathan White (152) was second, while Jake Kerkla (103), Sean Robles (119) and Logan Dargert (125) all finished third. Ben Osheroff (130) took fourth place.
