Father arrested in alleged threats

A Carson City father, awaiting trial on charges he abused his two sons by locking them in their room, was arrested Thursday for allegedly sending threatening e-mails to the District Attorney's Office.

Robert Lewis Williams, 48, was picked up by police at his Clear Creek Road home about 10:30 a.m.

e-mails in which he threatened to kill people if the charges against him weren't dropped, according to the arrest report.

Assistant District Attorney Gerald Gardner said the new allegations need to be further investigated to determine if additional charges will be filed against Williams.

Williams and his wife Linda, 35, were arrested in October after police received a call for a welfare check on their two young sons.

When officers arrived, the children were allegedly locked in a room.

"Inside the small bedroom was a bunk bed where two small boys were lying," the deputy wrote in the arrest report. "The boys, age 5 and 3, were lying on the top bunk bed sharing a blanket. Located on the floor were two toddler potty chairs which were full of urine. The windows to the bedroom were boarded up from the inside."

One child had black eyes while the other had a large infected abrasion on his face, allegedly from his mother scrubbing it with a Brillo pad, court documents indicate.

Both Williamses were charged with two counts of felony child abuse and two counts of gross misdemeanor child neglect. The children are in state custody.

In June, Linda Williams pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor false imprisonment. She is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 10.

Robert Williams is set to go to trial on the charges Aug. 16.

He is being held without bail.
