DeQuille fabricates: There is talk of expelling DeQuille from the archery club in Virginia City. His atrocious yarn yesterday about the Appeal man's archery practice showed how far wide of the bullseye he can send the arrow of truth in fiction. It is high time Charley Goodwin came back to put him in check.

100 YEARS AGO

United States District Attorney Sam Platt has temporarily canceled all the federal liquor licenses in the county, making it the only dry county in the state. The problem arose from local saloon keepers selling liquor to Indians.

70 YEARS AGO

Steps were taken to form the Carson City Business Men's Association, comprising 22 men doing business in the city. Jack Allen was named chairman, and Joel T. Snyder, secretary.

50 YEARS AGO

Thirteen tardy teenagers from Lake Tahoe and Reno were nabbed by police after curfew and for investigation of vagrancy. Eight of the youths, aged 13 to 16, were arrested after midnight by Sgt. Tony Kale and officer Tony Carter. The youths were not charged and released to parents. Shortly after 2 a.m. The second group of five was taken in by Carter.

20 YEARS AGO

A propane gas explosion caused the evacuation of Carsonite International on Hot Springs Road and caused minor injury to one man after a two gallon propane tank malfunctioned.
