The District 1 Little League All-Star Tournament gets under way today at Governors Field.
Opening ceremonies begin at 3:30 p.m. with games scheduled for 5:30 and 8 p.m. The tournament format has changed. Instead of pool play and a single elimination format, it will be double-elimination with at least two consolation games thrown in.
Carson City his fielding teams in the 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12 age groups.
The 10-11-year-old squad starts tonight at 8 on Field 3 against Reno National. Sparks Centennial plays Reno Continental in the other first-round game.
Carson's 9-10-year-old team received a first-round bye and won't play its opening round game until Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on Field 3 against the winner of the Reno national-Sparks Centennial game.
The 11-12-year-old tournament doesn't start until Saturday. Carson will face Carson Valley in its opener at 7:30 p.m. on Field 3.
Admission is free to the event, and Carson City will have its snack bar open throughout the tournament.
Game times on weeknights are 5:30 and 8 p.m. Games times this Saturday are 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, game times are 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
