(AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says five adults and one juvenile were arrested during drunken driving checkpoints conducted over the Fourth of July holiday in Northern Nevada.
One DUI checkpoint was conducted Saturday night on U.S. 50 west of Fallon.
Trooper Chuck Allen on Monday said 1,709 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and 14 drivers underwent secondary screening. Only one was arrested.
Another checkpoint was set up Sunday night on State Route 28 near Incline Village at Lake Tahoe. Allen says 1,840 vehicles were stopped and 26 drivers were directed to secondary screening. Of those, four were arrested for DUI and one minor was arrested for possession and consumption of alcohol.
