The Carson Blue Jays pulled off an 8-4 upset of the Sierra Sun Devils Tuesday night at Ron McNutt Field.
Carson scored all eight of its runs in the first inning and made them stand up behind the solid pitching of Charlie Banfield, who yielded a run and two hits in five innings of work.
Colby Blueberg, Adam Whitt and Casey Wolfe had run-scoring singles in the first, and Banfield helped his own cause by driving in two runs for a 5-0 lead. A run-scoring double by Brock Pradere and a two-run double by Nick Domitrovich capped the explosion.
Wolfe relieved Banfield and gave up three runs, only one of which was earned. Jason Perko pitched a scoreless seventh.
Blueberg, Pradere, Whitt and Banfield all had two hits.
The Blue Jays return to action Friday at 6 against Spanish Springs at Ron McNutt Field.
