Board of supervisors may drop cash incentive program

The Redevelopment Authority's incentive program, which has for years provided individual grants for small, private redevelopment projects, could be suspended indefinitely Thursday.

In May, the Redevelop-ment Authority requested that the cash incentive program be dropped, stating that the Office of Business Development's staff cuts made it cumbersome to process and evaluate applications fairly, efficiently and in a timely manner.

The request also was made because the city is creating a new business resource center, and because there is a pressing need to save tax increment funds to implement the city's downtown corridor vision.

The suspension of this incentive program would not apply to the funding of special events or to appropriate large redevelopment projects such as state-of-the-art auto dealerships or large, aging shopping centers in need of redevelopment support.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors' agenda, which will be covered during the same meeting, includes action or discussion on:

• A presentation of the annual activities report for the operation of public, educational government access programming by the Brewery Arts Center.

• An interlocal agreement by and between Carson City and Douglas County relating to water delivery.

• Discussion and update regarding the implementation of a small wind energy conversion system ordinance adopted a year ago.

• Appointment of three members to the Carson City Planning Commission.

• Status report and briefing on the work of the city's Charter Review Committee.

• Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau meets at

• Carson City Regional Transportation Commission meets immediately following adjournment of the CAMPO meeting Wednesday in the Sierra Room of the community center. On the agenda are discussions about Roop Street work, which will result in loss of parking at the community center, action to award a contract to MV Transportation to operate all JAC routes, action to approve an interlocal agreement between Carson City RTC and the Nevada Department of Transporta-tion, and action to award a contract for work at Silver Oak Drive and North Carson Street.
