The Nevada Division of State Parks is selling permits for firewood every Wednesday until all permits are sold.
The permits are $20 - each worth a truckload of wood, according to parks officials. A spokesman said since the permits are per truckload, not per cord, only standard trucks up to one ton are allowed. Four-wheel drive is required to pick up the wood, which is located above Hobart Reservoir in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park.
There are about 140 permits available on a first-come first-served basis.
Pickup is every Wednesday at
9 a.m. The wood is being sold at a reduced rate because buyers will have to move it by hand over rough terrain.
The wood was cut into approximately 18-inch lengths by forestry division and Great Basin Institute conservation crews.
