Memorial services will be held Wednesday at Fitzhenry's for longtime public employee labor leader Danny Coyle, 74.

Coyle was founder and president of the retiree's chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. He worked for the state nearly 32 years before retiring as a senior right-of-way agent for the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Since his retirement in 1995, he has served as a lobbyist for public employees and retirees before the Nevada Legislature.

Coyle had been receiving treatment for cancer for some time.

Earlier this year, Carson City lawmakers Assemblywoman Bonnie Parnell and Sen. Mark Amodei honored Coyle with a legislative proclamation citing his long record of community service.

In addition to his work with the union, he was a senior member of the National Right of Way Association, a member the Protective Order of Elks and the Fraternal Order of Eagles as well as the Carson City Sundowner Sertoma Club.

Coyle is survived by two sons, Dennis of Carson City and Danny of Dayton, and daughter Hylari Roth of Dayton as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. at Fitzhenry's, 3945 Fairview Dr., followed by private internment at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

A reception will be held after the memorial service at the Elks Carson City Lodge No. 2177, 515 N. Nevada St., two blocks west of the Carson Nugget.
