MOUND HOUSE - Four people were injured early Wednesday morning in a head-on collision on Highway 50 East in Mound House.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Heidi Shellenbarger, 21, of Dayton, was eastbound in a green Toyota sedan at about 5:30 a.m. at the top of Dayton Hill when she crossed into the westbound path of a white Dodge van driven by William Collins, 72, of Silver Springs.

Shellenbarger, Collins and his two passengers - wife, Shirley Collins, 63, and grandson Timothy Collins, 23 - were taken from the scene by three helicopters that landed on the highway, said Trooper Matt Kaplan.

The accident caused traffic delays in both directions for several hours Wednesday morning.

Kaplan said none of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
