St. Mary's Hospice opens new location

Saint Mary's Hospice will mark its new Carson City location at 990 N. Minnesota St. on Friday when it stages a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon.

The new location will serve as the primary office for Carson City hospice staff including nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains and trained volunteers, and will offer expanded hospice care and support programs for area residents.

In addition to its new location, Saint Mary's Hospice will offer a series of volunteer training sessions for those interested in hospice care.

The free volunteer training sessions will be held from

4 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday Aug. 10 through Sept. 21.

During each training session, attendees will learn about caring for hospice patients, addressing the death and grieving process and understanding the new developments in the hospice industry.
