Victims of burglary ring sought

A recent search of a Carson City home recovered about 300 allegedly stolen items leaving investigators with the question - who are all the victims?

Carson City Sheriff Sgt. Ken Sandage said Tuesday that three people were arrested July 14 in connection with a burglary ring that spanned Carson City, Douglas and Washoe counties.

Heather Olea, 22, of Carson City, was arrested Sunday in the 2000 block of Dori Way on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property and a warrant for failure to attend substance abuse counseling.

Bryan Allen Gaudette, 23, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. July 14 in the 2000 block of Dori Way on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor

obstructing.

Christopher Allan Buttz, 18, was arrested in Sparks during a traffic stop on July 8. His arrest sparked the investigation, said Carson City Sheriff's Detective Daniel Gonzales. Buttz was booked into the Washoe County Jail on suspicion of felony possession of stolen goods and auto burglary among other charges.

According to Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Halsey, a fourth suspect, Andrue Madden, 18, is still being sought by law enforcement.

Gonzales said the group would hit vehicles and homes, taking jewelry, electronics and other valuables. They would then either pawn or sell the items.

In an effort to identify victims, the Carson City Sheriff's Office is holding an evidence viewing, where victims of burglaries in the three affected counties are being asked to come to the Sheriff's Office to possibly identify their stolen goods.

"A lot of the folks don't know what was actually taken from their vehicle so there are some items that they didn't list in their reports. We cannot search the reports for what you don't know about," said Sandage.

Gonzales said if someone reported a burglary between June 2009 and July 14, they may find their goods.

The evidence viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at 911 E. Musser St. in Carson City.

A similar viewing was held Tuesday and 15 victims were found, said Gonzales.

No appointment is necessary, but victims are asked to bring the case number from when they reported the burglary.
