RENO - Reno pushed across two runs in the ninth inning Saturday night, but the comeback bid fell short as the Aces saw a three-game winning streak come to an end in a 6-3 loss to the Fresno Grizzlies at Aces Ballpark.
Fresno starter Todd Wellemeyer, pitching on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, held the Aces offense to just two hits and a run over 4.1 innings of work. After Wellemeyer's exit, four Fresno relievers combined to hold Reno to just two runs over the game's final 4.2 frames. Joe Paterson (3-2) worked two scoreless innings to earn the victory out of the Grizzlies bullpen.
The Aces and Grizzlies will meet again this afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
