LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former attorney general candidate wants a hearing before the Nevada State Bar, which was investigating him for an alleged ethics violation late in the political campaign.

Jacob Hafter lost in the Republican primary last month. The Las Vegas lawyer was running for the GOP nomination and chance to challenge Democratic incumbent Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.

Hafter says he wants to see a summary of any evidence the bar has that would justify the investigation, which he called politically motivated and challenged in federal court.

A judge refused to block the investigation, saying the State Bar was obligated to investigate whether Hafter breached professional ethics with comments he was accused of making about Cortez Masto.
