PHOENIX (AP) - Juan Uribe hit a grand slam, Madison Bumgarner pitched seven effective innings and the San Francisco Giants shook off teammate Eugenio Velez's scary head injury to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-4 Saturday night.
Velez was injured in the fourth inning when a sharp liner by teammate Pat Burrell knocked him off his feet in the dugout. He was taken to the hospital, but the Giants didn't let up, getting two RBIs each from Aubrey Huff and Edgar Renteria to win for the 15th time in 19 games.
Mark Reynolds hit his 23rd homer and Adam LaRoche hit a two-run shot, but the Diamondbacks got a shaky start from Ian Kennedy (5-8) and an even worse bullpen performance to lose their third straight.
Buster Posey had two hits and an RBI to extend his hitting streak to 17 games, matching Orlando Cepeda's 1958 streak for second-longest by a Giants rookie. He's five short of the rookie record set by Willie McCovey in 1959.
Bumgarner (4-2) won his fourth straight start and got plenty of support from the Giants, who had 11 hits to win four consecutive road series for the first time since 2004.
All of that was secondary to the concern for Velez.
The reserve outfielder was standing near the rail of the dugout when he was struck in the head and knocked to the ground. Teammates gathered around him immediately and Burrell needed a moment to compose himself before stepping back into the batter's box.
Trainers worked on Velez well into the bottom half of the inning before carrying him down the visitor's tunnel. The team reported he was doing well under the circumstances and would stay the night at the hospital to undergo further tests.
Bumgarner was good before and after watching his teammate go down.
Reynolds splashed a solo homer into the pool in right-center off the left-hander in the sixth inning to cut San Francisco's lead to 3-1, but that was about it off him. Bumgarner allowed two runs on five hits.
Kennedy allowed a run on Huff's groundout in a first inning that included a walk and two wild pitches, then two more runs in the fifth after walking Bumgarner, a .188 hitter. The right-hander was lifted following a two-out walk in the seventh inning after allowing four runs on six hits.
Uribe had the big blow after he left, hitting his fourth career grand slam off Sam Demel, the second of four Arizona relievers who allowed a combined six runs over the final 2 1-3 innings.
