LAS VEGAS (AP) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has picked up the endorsement of his old friend, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman.

Reid and the famously flamboyant mayor appeared together Saturday at a downtown construction site, where the mayor credited Reid for his work to support city projects.

The Democratic senator and the mayor, an independent, have known each other for decades.

Reid said at one point, "Why wouldn't Oscar endorse me?"

Reid is seeking a fifth term against Republican Sharron Angle.
