The Mount Rose Highway is expected to be closed for the next several hours after a truck crash west of the Tannenbaum Event Center (formerly the Christmas Tree Restaurant) around 11 a.m. today.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a truck, operated by FW Carson Company of Incline Village, was part of a house demolition project and was traveling from Incline Village to the dump in Lockwood.

As it rounded a bend in the roadway, it rolled onto its right side. The trailer dumped its load of wood, dirt, and debris onto the roadway and down the embankment. The accident also caused the fuel tank to leak about 40 gallons of diesel onto the roadway.

Nevada Department of Transportation and Sierra Fire responded to the scene and prevented the fuel from spilling off of the roadway.

At 12:50 p.m., the roadway was completely closed to traffic while Nevada Towing began work to remove the vehicle.

However, one of the tow trucks is having mechanical problems, which will further delay clean-up efforts.

NHP advises commuters to use an alternate route since the roadway is expected to be closed for several more hours.
