Many helped make Girls State tea a success

Recently, the American Legion Auxiliary Capitol Unit 4 held a Girls State Benefit Tea at the Governor's Mansion. All proceeds from ticket and raffle ticket sales, as well as our silent auction benefited scholarships for Nevada Girls State delegates from Douglas and Carson High Schools. We'd like to thank the following Carson City sponsors and donors who helped make our Tea a huge success: Babylon Babes, Bonnie Parnell, B'Sghetti's, Cactus Jack's, Carson Lanes, Carson Station, Casino Fandango, Comstock Casino, Costco, Downtown 111 Salon, Due Sorella, El Charro Avitia, Galaxy Theatre, Gold Dust West, Gov. Jim Gibbons, Grocery Outlet, Helen Weimer and the Mansion Staff, Horseshoe Casino, Raley's, Rapunzel's Salon, Reno Aces, Safeway, Saletti's, SaveMart, Sen. Harry Reid, Sierra Rose Florist, Sugar Pine Cove, The Basil, The Purple Avocado, Villa Basque Restaurant, WalMart. Thank you!

Silver City is welcoming place for business

My husband and i wish to thank the wonderful people of Silver City for the warm welcome our new cybercafe and emporium has received. So many of the citizens have donated or consigned their treasures to us that when we make money, so do they. We have been so blessed by their help, their time, and their purchases. Several artists have graciously allowed us to display their creations and they really class up the joint. A huge thank you to Karen Kreyeski, Cashion Callaway, Tiny Busk, Desert Wife, Nevada Cassidy's Stone Mountain Turquoise, Bob Elston, Renate Victor, Linda Townsend and Jeff Richardson, artists who have all joined us in this leap of faith we call Doodads. A super big Thanks also to neighbors, Cindy Etchagoia, Theo McCormick, Linda Kline, Terry Creps and especially Renate Victor for all their support and trust in taking on this adventure. Silver City is a wonderful place to live and we want them to know we appreciate them.

Sincerely,

Sheree and Will Rose

Gift of welcome sign appreciated

My husband and I both graduated from Douglas High and we are now stationed in Ft. Lewis, Wash. My husband is currently deployed to Iraq.

While visiting family, my mom said that Fast Signs creates welcome home banners. Not only did Fast Signs make the banner in just a few days, they also gave it to me at no charge.

Thank you Andy and the rest of the employees at Fast Signs. Acts like this really make our deployments worth it.

Many responded after fire

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our neighbors for the great moral support they gave my wife and I when a tragic fire broke out at our house. Due to the immediate response of the fire department, our house was saved from being completely burnt down. The fire chief, Red Cross workers, and paramedics were there to care for our physical needs. Most of all though, the love and compassion our neighbor was something to be admired. We were given coffee and orange juice and toast to take care of our bodies, but the great love and concern our neighbors gave us, was food for the soul. Our insurance company was immediately notified and gave us money for food and supplies and lodging till our house is repaired. My wife and I will never forget the compassion of all those who were involved in our recovery from this tragic accident
