New applicants who want to get grant money for restoration of historic buildings face an Aug. 1 deadline to submit a letter of intent to the Commission for Cultural Affairs.
The commission has
$3 million each year in bond money to fund restoration of historic buildings in Nevada as cultural centers. It has been making grant awards for some 16 years now.
The deadline applies only to those organizations which haven't previously received any funding from the commission.
The letter of intent should discuss the planning by the organization, the amount of funding needed and the nature of the project. New groups seeking to participate in the process can call 775- 684-3439 for assistance or fill out the grant application online at www.NevadaCultu
re.org.
The deadline for full applications for grant money this year is Oct. 1.
The commission began awarding grants in 1993 and has helped fund projects at more than 80 buildings in the state including the Brewery Arts Center, Oat Park School in Fallon and Fourth Ward School in Virginia City.
