(AP) - The state Board of Examiners has approved spending $1.7 million to move Nevada Insurance Division workers out of a pigeon-plagued office building that made some employees sick.
Pigeons were found in the division's leased building about a month ago. A chemical spray was used and the heating and cooling system was replaced.
But about 75 workers reported feeling ill, and the governor's office shut down the office Wednesday. Administrators don't know if the effects were caused by the birds or chemicals.
The Board of Examiners made up of the governor, attorney general and secretary of state approved a five-year lease for new office space on Friday.
