Health Inspections

The following health inspections are for the period of May 13-25:

• Carson High School Sports Field Concession Stand, 1111 S. Saliman Road, scored 95 points. Found water turned off at the only hand sink while concession stand is in full operation. Observed manager drying hands on cloth towel. Area under the paper towel dispenser is used to store clean utensils, coffee pots, etc. No sanitizer bucket is set up to store the wiping cloths in.

• Bruggos Take & Bake Pizza, 3228 N. Carson St. #110, scored 99 points. Found no residual sanitizer (chlorine) in the wiping cloth bucket.

• Jimboy's Tacos #195 Restaurant, 2190 Hwy. 50 East, scored 92 points. Found plastic cups being used to dispense dry foods, sugar, etc. Some prepared , cooled foods are not labeled or covered in the walk-in. The main customer ice machine is without a proper cover. Forced air vent in the ceiling over the utensil storage, food prep and dish washing areas in the kitchen needs a cover to trap dust and prevent pest entry through the chimney. Exhaust pipe for the hot water heater is detached from the ceiling in the mop room. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• Carl's Jr/Green Burrito Restaurant, 1315 S. Carson St., scored 92 points. Found bowl of salsa at the self-serve station in the restaurant at 57 F. Also found salsa on the toppings reach-in in the kitchen at 52 F. The refrigerated unit in the restaurant was not plugged in. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• Pho 8 Restaurant, 248 E. Winnie Lane, scored 100 points.

• 5 Buck Pizza Takeout, 240 E. Winnie Lane, scored 96 points. Plastic cups without handles were being used to dispense pizza toppings. There was no currently certified food handler present at the time of this inspection.

• Carson Station Grille Catering, 900 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• International House of Pancakes, 3883 S. Carson St., scored 98 points. Wrapped sliced cooked turkey was found in the cooler drawer at the cookline at 44 F and not at 40 F or less.

• Lori's Caucus Deli, 401 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Pizza Hut #011662 Restaurant, 2441 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Mallard's Empire Ranch Golf Restaurant Main Kitchen, 1875 Fairway Drive, scored 100 points.

• Playa Azul Restaurant, 415 E. William St., scored 81 points. Self-serve salsa at the front counter is at 54 F. All kitchen employees have plates of food in the kitchen from which they are eating. Observed improper cooling of large quantities of cooked Spanish rice and pinto beans. The rice was in a large, covered plastic container. The rice was about four inches thick with an internal temperature of 124 F. The recently cooked pinto beans were in a large tub with the food being about five inches thick. Observed cook use hands to assemble nachos. Use spoons, tongs, etc., to dispense food. There is no sanitizer bucket set up in which to store wiping cloths. Back door to kitchen needs new weatherstripping to prevent pest entry. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• China East Restaurant, 1810 Hwy. 50 East, scored 97 points. Found a pan of pre-cooked meat laying directly on top of another uncovered pan of pre-cooked meat in the make-up unit. Corrected on site. Found some meats in the freezer reach-in of back room stored in plastic grocery bags. Found cups and bowls being used as scoops for the dry foods. Corrected on site. Found staff clothing (jackets, etc.) laying on bags of food near the back delivery door. Found sanitizer rags hanging on the container above the 3-C sink that holds clean knives and knife sharpeners. Corrected on site. The ceiling vent over the 3-C sink needs to be cleaned. Repeat violation. The areas between the grills and fryers need to be kept free of grease buildup. The shelf holding clean utensils above the 3-C sink needs to be kept clean. The shelf holding the dishwasher racks is dirty.

• CVS Pharmacy #9842 Convenience Store, 1980 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Glastine Pub Bar/Lounge, 1914 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Golden Dragon Restaurant, 3250 Retail Dr. #150, scored 99 points. Found no residual chlorine sanitizer in the wiping cloths laying in the counter tops in the kitchen.
