Singer/songwriter, Dani Carroll, will perform at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, ArtBar, at 7 p.m. on June 5.

Carroll has successfully established herself as a country music artist by writing and performing in Nashville since 2002. A 2006 solo album, titled "Unbreakable," was praised for its "sensitivity, hummable melodies, ... , and meaningful delivery." Her original music is influenced by a variety of folk, rock and jazz greats, and she has a characteristically rich, "bluesy" voice certain to reverberate in every corner of ArtBar.

The Carson Valley Arts Council (CVAC) is the local arts agency at the center of the Minden/Gardnerville area. As a charitable organization, it receives artists with open arms so that the larger community may regularly share in quality visual and performing arts. The Copeland Cultural Arts Center is a small but welcoming venue, consistently vibrant with gallery showings, art classes, plays, concerts and other events. Please visit www.cvartscouncil.com, or call (775) 782-8207, for more information.

"Goal 2010! The FIFA World Cup Fine Art Poster Portfolio"

Bringing the World Cup festivities to Carson City, the Capital City Arts Initiative presents Goal 2010!, an exhibition of fine arts soccer posters in the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. Seventeen limited edition posters go on view on Monday, June 7. In conjunction with the opening day of the tournament there will be reception in the gallery on Friday, June 11 from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

The CCAI Courthouse Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The gallery is located at 885 East Musser Street in Carson City.

The artists featured in the portfolio were selected by the FIFA Art Committee who sought to include works by both famous and emerging artists from around the globe. Artists include South African William Kentridge, subject of a recent one-person exhibition at New York's Museum of Modern Art and Julie Mehretu, Ethiopian-born artist featured in the prestigious 2004 Whitney Biennial and numerous exhibitions worldwide.

South Africa is the proud host of the World Cup, the first to take place in Africa. During the exhibition, CCAI will feature posts on the World Cup and on South Africa arts and culture on its blog, arts-initative.blogspot.com.
