Janett P. Bates, 92, a 38-year Carson City resident, died May 30, 2010, at Continuecare Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., to Claude and Betty (Madler) McColl. She is preceded in death by her husband George in 1998 and a sister. She is survived by son Mike Bates of Carson City; daughter Arlene Nelson of Venice, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Inurnment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery. FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
