Marie Davis and Rob Morgan were longtime competitors in the online world of selling collectibles and antiques.

Today, they're business partners.

Davis, 42, had been looking for a store to sell her vast collection of "treasures" after figuring customers would be more likely to purchase something if they were able to touch an item instead of look at it online.

After weeks of contemplating how to get a storefront, Davis and Morgan started to talk about a possible joint business venture.

"Morgan came over to look at a piece of furniture I had, and five days later we were signing a lease," Davis said. "We just hit it off."

They now spend their days inside their store on Highway 50 East in Carson City surrounded by antique furniture, albums, watches, dishes and other collectibles gathered by the two self-described pack rats over the years.

"You hear the stories," Davis said. "They say my mother had that or I had that when I was growing up. It's really nice to listen to the stories, it's like a little treasure hunt."

Combined, Davis and Morgan have more than 2,000 items in their store.

"And that's just the tip of the iceberg," she said.

Morgan adds, "It's 15 percent of what we actually have."

They also take consignments, which amounts to about 30 percent of all the items in the store.

They still take to the Internet to look for items to sell.

"It's long hours, just because the store may be closed here she's on her computer at home, I'm on my computer at home," Morgan said. "We're constantly scanning. Maybe we see a great deal."
