Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corp. was awarded a $22,000 state grant to hire and train up to 22 new employees at its Carson City facility last month.
The grant was awarded by the Nevada Commission on Economic Development and will pay $1,000 per employee at an average wage of $24.61 an hour.
The money comes from the state-funded Train Employees Now program, said NCED executive director Mike Skaggs.
Cathy Gedvilas, a spokeswoman for Chromalloy, said six people have so far been hired. The company employees 520 people in Carson City.
Chromalloy manufactures and repairs components of airline and industrial turbine engines at its Carson City facility.
