The Board of Regents on Friday re-elected James Dean Leavitt to a second term as chairman.
They also named Jason Geddes of Reno to a second term as vice chairman of the body. Their terms are for one year.
The Board of Regents consists of 13 elected members who manage the Nevada System of Higher Education. The system includes the University of Nevada Reno, University of Nevada Las Vegas, Nevada State College at Henderson and the community colleges - Western Nevada College, Great Basin College, College of Southern Nevada and Truckee Meadows Community College.
Leavitt has served on the board since his election in 2004. His district represents part of Clark County. He is a lawyer specializing in criminal defense.
Geddes was appointed to the board by Gov. Kenny Guinn in 2006 and won election in 2008. He also served one term in the Nevada Assembly in 2003. He holds a Ph.D. in environmental sciences and health.
