Thanks to caring couple during illness
I want to thank the couple from Gardnerville who have been so attentive to me. They've checked on me and gone to the store for me since my stroke.
I just wish hope and prayer that everyone can have someone that can be as sweet and loving as they have. They've given me better care than the hospital.
I wish not to give their names, but they will know who they are.

Thanks for successful prescription roundup
I want to thank the people of Carson City and the volunteers who participated in the recent Prescription Drug Roundup sponsored by Partnership Carson City. Frankly, we were overwhelmed by the response, which brought in more than 90,000 unused and expired pills and medications in just four hours.
We plan to do another roundup in six months or so, and again next year during Earth Day. These potentially dangerous drugs need to be removed from medicine cabinets and kept out of our water supply. In the meantime, you can take them to the Sheriff's Office for disposal.
Among many who helped with this effort were Cal Cheney and fellow managers and employees at the Save-Mart stores who set up tables, hung banners and contributed giveaways. Sheriff's Office reserves who collected the drugs were coordinated by Tom Crawford.
The Partnership Carson City Community Awareness Task Force planned the roundup, along with the Healthy Communities Coalition in Lyon County (where thousands more pills were collected that day). People who manned the tables at the Save-Marts, as well as donating time and resources beforehand, included Linda Lang, Dalie Perez, Antonio Gudino, Ron and Jan Kendall, Peter Fishburn, Chris Bayer, John Peshek, Tish and Myron Carpenter, Jim Barcellos and Kathy Bartosz.
Of course, we wouldn't have accomplished much if the people of Carson City hadn't shown up to do their part. We appreciate the cooperation.
