The Carson Manufacturers Forum is inviting area manufacturers to participate in a free discussion about how to better prepare their employees for success in the workplace and how they can enhance area businesses from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at Western Nevada College, Marlette Hall, Cedar Building.
Workforce training and development has been in the forefront of the Forum's discussions since the group was formed in 2007. Last fall, the Forum and WNC began collaboration on developing a manufacturing workforce training initiative. Manufacturing employers are encouraged to learn of the benefits of this partnership for Sierra Region industries.
The outcome was the Manufacturing Workforce Collaborative, a 15-credit curriculum aimed at providing shop floor employees with baseline skills essential to success in their manufacturing careers. The curriculum provides a direct and achievable step allowing career-minded manufacturing employees to prepare themselves for advancement.
The curriculum also offers graduating high school students a path toward career-quality employment in the Sierra Region's extensive and diverse manufacturing industry.
Those in a position to influence manufacturing employees should consider attending this meeting. The program will provide additional skills and further the employee's professional growth as well as benefit the employer's company.
The forum is an informal organization of 16 Sierra Region manufacturers. Participants are industry leaders, including company owners, presidents, CEOs, general managers and operations managers. The group meets every six weeks to further the success of its members and the local manufacturing industry through exchange of knowledge and ideas, sharing of best practices, and collaboration with key resources such as WNC and the Northern Nevada Development Authority.
The Carson Manufacturers Forum exists for the benefit of its members, individually and collectively. It does not subject its members to marketing efforts, sales presentations or financial obligations. The Forum respects the time and responsibilities of its members and conducts its meetings accordingly.
