After Mike Foster's last employer started to downsize in 2009, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Foster, 50, opened Jigsaw Automotive a month ago, hoping to attract customers who want automotive repair work on their vehicles. He also retrofits vehicles for off-roading, installing a roll bar on an Isuzu Amigo, for example.
After he left his last employer, a local car dealership, "I could have gone to Vegas to work, but I have a kid in high school and I didn't want to do that," Foster said.
Foster said he is taking on automotive repair jobs to keep the young business running, "but we're hoping to do custom stuff, roll cages."
He's still working on a sign to hang outside his garage and he's hoping for an influx of business - something he thinks will eventually come.
"We want to get to the point where we're making a living," he said. "Right now we're just trying to survive and get some work in here."
