City maintenance crew did top-notch job

We live on Poplar Street in Carson City. About 6 p.m. June 15, we saw water running from the street in front of our home. I immediately called Street and Storm Drain Maintenance. A maintenance man came and said a crew would be there in the morning.

About 7 a.m. June 16, the crew arrived and started working. In short order they had repaired the line and turned our water back on. They nicely explained and showed me what happened to the line. This was the third leak in same line in the last two or three years. The street was back in good shape quickly.

We appreciate the prompt response, the quick repair and the courteous response to each of our questions by the city staff involved.

For Nevada's sake, send Harry home in November

Thank you, Harry Reid. We heard on the news June 17 that Nevada is now No. 1 - in unemployment, that is.

With Sen. Reid's political campaign ads touting so many new clean energy jobs in Nevada, why is the unemployment rate still rising? We have heard over and over that we can't lose Reid in November because he's such a powerful force for Nevada in Washington, D.C. If he's such a powerful force, why doesn't Nevada have one of the lowest unemployment rates? And why is Nevada's home foreclosure rate one of the highest in the nation? Yes, he sure is doing a wonderful job.

Years ago, we remember Reid's campaigns were geared toward his being "Independent like Nevada." No more - he hasn't said that in a very, very long time - he is not independent now, if he ever really was. Now it's the Obama, Pelosi and Reid show.

This administration has run up the largest deficit ever. Who's going to pay for this? We will all be dead and our poor great-grandkids will still be paying, but only if this once-great nation survives this administration.

So please, voters, in November and the next five years, vote out all incumbents. Maybe then the politicians will get back to truly representing the citizens of the United States. The good politicians might eventually be re-elected. The one and only peaceful way.
