Cleanup efforts yield trash-filled Dumpsters

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce's and Parks and Recreation Depart-ment's cleanup of the freeway's embankments and at the Lompa Wetlands was hailed a success by Park Planner Vern Krahn.

"We only had about a dozen or so volunteers show up, but they completely filled up a 20-yard Dumpster with trash, trash-laden tumbleweeds, and (more)," Krahn said.

"It is truly remarkable that over the past three months, this cleanup effort by the Chamber's volunteers has generated three 20-yard Dumpsters and one 30-yard Dumpster worth of trash from both the College Parkway Inter-change and Highway 50 East Interchange," Krahn said. "In addition, other areas that were included in the cleanup were the Carson City freeway embankments between these interchanges, the City's Fulstone and Lompa Wetlands, and areas along the freeway's multi-use path."
