HENDERSON (AP) - Authorities say a teenage mother who gave birth in April in a bathtub at home in Henderson is facing attempted murder and child abuse and neglect charges for trying to dispose of her newborn baby.
A police report alleges that 18-year-old Sarah White put the child in a plastic bag and held it to her chest before her mother found her in the bathroom April 3.
White is due July 1 in Henderson Justice Court.
Police say the child was purple and didn't appear to be breathing before White's father, a trained paramedic, began performing CPR.
The infant survived and was hospitalized with hypo-thermia and an infection.
White told police she used a kitchen knife to try to cut the umbilical cord before putting the child in the bag.
