Diversifying Nevada's economy will be the focus of a new coalition comprised of two dozen Nevada business leaders, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki announced last week.
The New Nevada Task Force will develop recommendations on how to attract businesses to Nevada, which will be presented before the 2011 Legislature. Krolicki and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development will lead the task force.
The objectives of the task force are to:
- Provide a competitive analysis.
- Recommend industries the state should try to attract.
- Provide ways the economic commission can pursue technology development, business attraction and expansion and community development.
"Today, Nevada finds itself battered by some of the greatest economic challenges it has ever seen," Krolicki said. "However, we can use this opportunity to work with our state's business leaders to rethink and retool our business practices, and identify pathways towards sustainable economic diversification and job growth in our state."
The first meeting is July 12.
