Health inspections for June 8-29

The following health inspections are for the period of June 8-19:

• Ming's Restaurant, 2330 S. Carson St., scored 87 points. Observed sushi bar employee eating watermelon in the food service area, than walk into kitchen and grasp a clean food container, fingers inside the container. Inspector asked employee to stop and wash his hands. He then rinsed the container in the hand sink followed by hand washing. Found two uncovered staff drink glasses stored above food storage/prep areas in kitchen. Kitchen hand sink is inoperable. Water is turned off due to leak. Found raw sliced chicken stored over cleaned whole onions in the walk-in. Found containers of food, meat and produce, stored on the floor in the walk-in. Found a bowl being used as a scoop in the bin of sugar.

• Casino Fandango Restaurant Main Kitchen, 3800 S. Carson St., scored 99 points. Ice scoops are stored improperly on top of the ice machines. One blue storage bucket is not clean inside.

• Casino Fandango Restaurant Palm Court Grill, 3800 S. Carson St., scored 94 points. Found a hotel pan, a used spatula and food debris in the hand sink on the cook line. Nail brush is dirty and not stored in sanitizer. Sanitizer buckets are not set up on the cook line to store wet wiping cloths. Utensil containers at the front service area need cleaning. Found cook's utensils stored in a container of cool water.

• The Firkin & Fox Restaurant Main Kitchen, 310 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• The Firkin & Fox Restaurant Bar, 310 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• The Firkin & Fox Smoking Bar, 310 S. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• FISH Family Dining Food Facility, 138 E. Long St., scored 90 points. There is no chlorine sanitizer available for the final rinse of the dishwasher. Found expired "use-by" dates on dairy products in the reach-in. Clean dishes and utensils are being dried with cloth towels. Dish racks are being stored on the floor. There are no paper towels supplied at either the kitchen on dry storage room hand sink. Staff are drying their hands on cloth towels.

• Wendy's Restaurant, 2555 N. Carson St., scored 90 points. Observed manager chewing and swallowing candy while in the kitchen area. Thermometer is broken in the salad reach-in. Found container of sudsy cleaning solution sitting on top of the raw hamburger drop-in unit. The covers above the meat patties are not air- or water-tight. Found cooked bacon in bags stored above raw produce in bags in the walk-in. The 3-C sink is not set up for washing dishes and utensils. The floor sink behind the main ice machine is dirty. Drain hoses are coiled and laying in the bottom of the sink.

• Carson Nugget Bar/Lounge, 507 N. Carson St., scored 94 points. Dump sink used for hand washing. Employees do not maintain adequate hand-washing practices. Non-food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean.

• El Aguila Real, 3220 Highway 50 East #6, scored 100 points.

• Pizza Factory of Carson City Restaurant, 3120 Highway 50 East #3, scored 100 points.

• Dairy Queen of Carson City Restaurant, 3198 Highway 50 East,, scored 100 points.

• CVS Pharmacy Convenience Store, 3240 Highway 50 East, scored 100 points.

• Carson Nugget Cork & Bottle Bar/Lounge, 507 N. Carson St., scored 99 points. Non-food contact surfaces of equipment or utensils are not clean.
