Renewable energy workshops planned

Renewable energy experts will be touring rural Nevada in March to tell farmers, ranchers and small business owners about incentive programs and grants that can lower costs for installing solar panels, wind turbines or small hydroelectric systems.

NVEnergy, Nevada Wind Working Group and the U.S. Department of Agriculture will make the presentations at the workshops in Carson City, March 15, Fallon, March 11, Yerington, March 16, Elko, March 17, and Winnemucca, March 18. Chamber hosting events

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a "Girls Night Out" mixer on Thursday at El Charro's, 4389 S. Carson St. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday the chamber will host a clean up of the Carson City Freeway and U.S. 50 East interchange from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Volunteers should meet in the lower east parking lot of the Gold Dust West Casino, 2171 U.S. 50.

Financial management classes for small businesses

The Nevada Small Business Development Center will host a two-day financial management seminar for small business owners 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 10-11 at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The seminar will give business owners pointers on avoiding common mistakes in financial management, how to use balance sheets and income statements to make business decisions and how to project future cash flow among other topics.

Renown CEO to speak at NBC breakfast meeting

Nevada Business Connections, a private business recruiting firm in Carson City, will host its next breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. March 18 at the Gold Dust West Casino, 2171 U.S. 50. The breakfast will feature Renown CEO Jim Miller and Robert Watson, the CEO of Vitamin Research Products.

Gas station reopened

The gas station at 4340 N. Carson St., reopened on Jan. 31 after a 10-month closure, now operating as an AM/PM convenience store and Arco gas station. It had been an independently-owned grocery store and Arco station since 2007. The property owners, in charge of the land since 2005, said they decided to remodel the building during the closure.
