Bone marrow match sought through drive
A bone marrow drive to help a Dayton father of two, Vinodkumar Challagundla, who is suffering from myelofibrosis, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Carson Catalina Apartments recreation hall, 700 Hot Springs Road.
Participants must be between the ages of 18-60 with no history of hepatitis, heart disease, cancer or AIDS. They can find out whether they are a match to Challagundla simply by giving saliva using a swab, and all results are kept confidential.
The bone marrow drive is sponsored by Be The Match. A match is likely to be found in as low as one out of 100,000 people. Anyone who is a potential match will be contacted after the saliva is tested.
