CARSON CITY (AP) - A workshop will be held in Carson City on a recent Nevada Supreme Court ruling that raises questions about thousands of state water rights.

Acting state engineer Jason King will host the workshop Tuesday.

In a ruling in January, justices unanimously said the state engineer waited too long to act on some water applications filed by Southern Nevada Water Authority in 1989 for a big pipeline project to bring water from eastern rural Nevada to thirsty Las Vegas.

The case was remanded to a lower court to decide if the process needs to start over.

State officials say the ruling could have a bearing on other water rights applications that weren't acted upon within a year.
