Pet food drive for homeless a success
Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital is pleased to announce that we collected over 900 pounds of dog and cat food for the Feeding Pets of Homeless program in 2009.
For those not familiar with the program, it is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that provides pet food to the homeless and less fortunate in local communities across the United States and Canada. It was founded by Genevieve Frederick, and is headquartered right here in Carson City. Please visit their website at petsofhomeless@ charter.net.
Lone Mountain would like to thank all of our wonderful clients who have so generously donated to this worthwhile cause. Special thanks to Jan Shaw of Body by Pilates and all of her clients who continue to donate time after time.
This year it is our goal to raise 1,500 pounds of food. We accept not only brand new bags, but we will also take the food that your finicky eater is tired of. All we ask is that you tape or seal the bag tightly. Canned food, dog and cat treats are also welcome. Please drop your donations off in the big red bin in our lobby at 780 E. College Parkway.
Thank you.

Thank You from High Sierra Fly Casters
We would like to thank our community for the support for our 2010 Fund Raiser. Our success enables us to continue conservation efforts, educational projects, and sponsorship of recreational and retreat programs for our area.
We especially want to express our gratitude to the contributors to our auction and raffles. Their generosity provided very nice prizes.

Scouts flip for martial arts demonstration
Cub Scout Den 2 from Pack 341 had a flipping experience on their March den meeting when Gavin Seymour brought his father, Winston Seymour, Rich Eley, Bob Correll, Maciek Krolikowski, and John Blee, all from the John Blee School of Martial Arts located in Reno. The room was lined with mats and the young Cub Scouts practiced self defense moves, rolls, and watched first hand how JuJitsu can keep you fit and safe.
It was an action pack meeting for cub scouts, Luke Bowler, Jackson Bellard, Joshua Maheux, Ian Petterson and Gavin Seymour.
