Dorothy Richmond celebrated her 100th birthday Tuesday with family and friends at a party at Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Colfax, Wash., Dorothy had four sisters and a brother, and worked briefly at the Naval Air Station in Alameda, Calif. She and her husband, John, had a daughter, Carol. Both have passed on.

Dorothy currently has four grandsons, one great-granddaughter and one great- great-granddaughter.

Living most of her life in Berkeley, Calif., before moving to Carson City to be closer to family, Dorothy attributes her longevity to not drinking or smoking.
