Stupid: Love letters have been left at this office ... written to a servant girl of nautical proclivities by a young man of this city ... something of a social lion. The writer can have the letters by identifying his signature ... which he was stupid enough to have left at the bottom.

Zephyr: A stovepipe blew away the other day in Bodie and the local preacher picked it up ... six miles from there, where the gentle zephyr dropped it. It now adorns the roof of the parsonage ... if the beloved sky-pilot doesn't unclutch it forthwith, we'll report the smutty affair to the Bishop. Homer Index.

California is unable to take in more refugees from the dust bowl states according to members of the rules committee of the House of Representatives. It's "bankrupting" California.

A new facility for nuke weapons is destined for the Nevada Test Site. The facility has been under construction since July of 1986 and cost $73.5 million.
