From cheering on your kids in the annual egg hunt, to shaking hands with the governor, Easter events abound.
The Douglas County Public Library in Minden is presenting a special Easter storytime at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Children 3 and older will listen to stories and make a small Easter basket. After stories, Lucky Duck will lead children on an egg hunt in front to the library.
On Thursday, St. Gall's re-enacts Jesus' Journey. The public is welcome to a live re-enactment of Jesus' journey to Calvary at 12:10 p.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. The devotional is presented by the Hispanic Youth Group of St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral. For information, call 782-2852.
A fundraiser for the Youth Group of First Christian Church of Carson City will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at 2211 Mouton Drive. The youth group will present a Passover dinner with all the traditional foods. All are welcome. For more information, call 883-4836.
The Chancel Choir of Carson Valley United Methodist Church presents "Lenten Sketches" by Joseph M. Martin, 7 p.m. Friday at 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.
High Sierra Fellowship will host My Deliverer - An Easter Production at 7 p.m. Friday at High Sierra Fellowship, 1426 Industrial Way, Gardnerville. Free. Call 775-782-7486.
And an Ecumenical Service will be held at noon on Good Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community, 3000 N. Lompa Lane.
On Saturday, the Kiwanis Club hosts The 33rd Annual Carson City Easter Egg Hunt at Centennial Park. Special needs children will take to the field at 11 a.m. The general hunt begins at noon. Volunteers are needed and should call American Family Insurance before Easter Sunday. For more information, call 885-9542.
Genoa will hold its Easter Egg Hunt for children ages
1-10 Saturday at McNamara Park in Genoa, Big Walnut Road and State Route 3. The hunt starts at 10 a.m. To volunteer, call Linda Greco at 614-568-2022.
If egg hunting isn't your cup of tea you could attend The Mad Hatter's Easter Parade in Virginia City at noon. Registration and lineup will begin at 11 a.m. at the Virginia City Jerky Company, 204 South C St. and anyone can walk in the parade for a fee. Prizes will be awarded for biggest, best and most bodacious bonnets, and best group. Parade forms can be obtained at the Visitor's Center or at www.visitvirginiacitynv.com. Late entries are welcome. Saturday also is the day for the Easter Fiesta hosted by the Latino Student Club from Western Nevada College. The event goes from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and features games and activities for children of all ages, $4 per child.
And on Easter Sunday, Fountainhead Foursquare Church, 3690 Highway 395 South, holds its Easter Sunday Services at: 6:30,
9 and 10:30 a.m. They also will host an Easter Egg Hunt, which begins at 10 a.m.
Carson City First United Methodist Church, Division and Musser streets, will hold its Easter Sunday Services at 6:45, 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m.
St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community, 3000 N. Lompa Lane, will hold Easter Sunday Services at 7:45, 9:30, 11:15 a.m. and a Spanish service at 1 p.m. (there will be no 5 p.m. Mass)
Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church, 1505 Railroad Drive, hosts Easter Sunday breakfast at 9:30 a.m., Easter Service with Pastor Marvin Dennis at 10:30 a.m. and an Easter Egg Hunt at 11:30 a.m.
Then, as the day starts to wind down, Gov. Jim Gibbons will be waiting at the Governor's Mansion Easter Celebration, 600 Mountain St., from 2-4 p.m. to meet with children and pass out commemorative Easter eggs. One egg per child. For more information, call 882-2333.
