LAS VEGAS (AP) - A federal judge in Nevada has declared a county law requiring applicants for brothel ownership to live in the state unconstitutional.
The ruling by U.S. District Court Judge James Mahan in Las Vegas came in the case of Dallas-area businessman Bruce Kahn.
Kahn's effort to buy the Chicken Ranch near Pahrump in 2007 was denied by Nye County officials because Kahn hadn't lived in Nevada for at least six months. No offers to purchase the Chicken Ranch are pending.
Kahn's lawyer says his client had planned to move to Las Vegas once he got a license.
An attorney for Nye County says there are still what he called a number of reasons for the county to deny Kahn's application.
