Get ready for TASTE OF DOWNTOWN

If you are thinking it's too early, it's never to early to help support Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

I am a huge admirer of Lisa, Jackie Gina, Traci, Terri and all the volunteers who make this a huge event each year. It is the only event I know of that everyone in town, visitors included come out and enjoy all the amazing restaurants and bands. I can't thank the owners of the restaurants who continue, even in these times, to step up to give a great program. When you go to lunch or dinner make sure to mention that you've enjoyed seeing them at the Taste and hope to sample again this year. I want to see the new Super Burrito participate this year. Thanks to Jake and Jesse Rasner, this place one of my favorite places.

So volunteers, sponsors, restaurant owners, sign up, 150 volunteers are needed. I really enjoy this event and will be there counting you again. Bring a friend and have a fantastic time helping local women and children be safe in our community.

WHO: Advocates to End Domestic Violence - need sponsors, volunteers, bands and restaurants

WHAT: Taste of Downtown: food, friends and fun

WHEN: Saturday, June 19

WHERE: Downtown Carson City

COMMUNITY COUNSELING CENTER ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

This annual fundraiser provided funds all year long for services in our community at low or no cost to individuals in need. Due to the drastic cuts in funding, treatment is becoming more and more unavailable to a population of our society who can really benefit from alcohol and drug treatment services. On May 2, come join the annual Cracker Box and Adele's Restaurant sponsored scrabble - golf, that is, at Eagle Valley Golf Course - and assist the Community Counseling Center in addressing a funding crunch. Substance abuse affects the entire community.

WHEN: Sunday, May 2

WHERE: Eagle Valley Golf Course

COST: $150 per person and tax deductible or sponsor a hole for $100.

CONTACT: 775-882-3945

BENEFIT: Help provide needed services to individuals struggling with substance addictions.
