St. Teresa offers Easter masses

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community will have a special schedule of services for Easter Sunday.

Masses will be 7:45 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and a Spanish Mass at 1 p.m. There will be no 5 p.m. mass that day.

Rescue group needs handy volunteers

Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation is in need of handy volunteers to help refurbish cat scratching posts to benefit cats in need in the Carson/Minden area.

Supplies will be provided and volunteers can work on the posts at home.

WARF hosts cat and kitten adoptions on Saturdays at Petco on Topsy Lane.

Learn to dance like the stars

The first of two ballroom dance classes for beginning adults and teens will start April 5 and run for 12 weeks. Class time is 7-8:30 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Dr.

Larry Ward, who has 55 years experience as a professional dancer and dance instructor, will teach the cha-cha, waltz, Texas two step and east coast swing, in the first course that runs through June.

The second 12-week course begins 7:30-9 p.m. July 12 and covers the tango, salsa, fox trot, rumba and nightclub two-step.

A second round of the first course also begins July 12 with class times at 6-7:30.

Cost is $8 per course for adults and $6 for teens. Sign-ups will be taken until the second class of each course. Coffee and cookies will be served.

Booth space available for flea market

The Carson Indian Colony, located at 2900 S. Curry St., will hold regularly scheduled flea markets from April 17 through, at least, August.

Booth spaces are open to anyone interested in selling arts, crafts, clothing, tools, antiques, collectibles, or items from over-stuffed garages. Booth spaces are $25.

All booth space rental proceeds go to the repair of the Carson Colony gymnasium and the Carson Colony kids recreation program.
